Welcome Savvy!

Savvy & her mom :)

We are excited to welcome a new student to our room, Savvy!  She moves to Arlington Heights from Utah.  We are all THRILLED to have her as a 1-3 kid.  She is hard-working, very kind-hearted, a leader and a wonderful friend.  We are so excited to get to know her more!

Themes for this week:

President's Day - We will compare and contrast George Washington & Abraham Lincoln.

Robots & Recycling - We will begin talking about our environment and this will be a theme in our guided reading books this week.

Letter Writing - We continue learning proper form, will keeping singing "Head, Greeting, Body, Closing, Signature".. the kids love that!  And this week we will focus on writing a Thank You letter.

Math - We are coming up to the end of unit 5, which has focused on place value and addition/subtraction facts to 10.  We continue to review all concepts taught, especially time and money.  The Unit 5 test won't be until next week.

Science - We are wrapping up magnets this week… Magnet journals will be coming home by the weekend.

JAPAN!! - We will begin our unit on Japan NEXT week; however, we will be preparing for our "flight to Japan" which will be Friday.  Look for an informational letter about this coming home tomorrow!
