It's hard to believe we are getting so close to the end of the year! To keep the learning going in a fun, exciting way, we began a "mission" of taking an imaginary hot air balloon ride across the USA. I divided the kids into 4 teams (Team Red, Team Yellow, Team Purple and Team Blue). Each team is given a clue sheet for a mission to research that day. The clues lead them to learn about which state their "balloon" is flying over and information about that state. We "lifted up" on the west coast and are traveling east, with the wind. Each student will be using Facts4Me.com and The Weather Channel to research their clues, figure out what state they are over and some fun facts about that area. Each team is over a different state each day, so they are excited to see what the other teams are learning. We will continue this mission daily until the end of the year!
Don't forget THIS Thursday is our Brookfield Zoo field trip! I'll send more information via email about this closer to the date. Also, there will be NO MORE SPELLING pretests and posttests! This week the children will take 2 review tests of sight words. They also will take an end-of-the-year math review test. There is nothing to study for either of these tests. I hope you are getting excited for both of us for summer coming because I am getting sad to realize the year is coming to an end!!!
