Hersey High School Science

We had a wonderful time doing science experiments with the Hersey High School AP students!

This week in 1-3....

Reading:  We continue our Content Literacy Unit on Sound & Light.  This unit integrates reading & science and has allowed us many opportunities for experimenting.  I have been very impressed at how the students are looking at both of these forms of energy in a deeper, more scientific way.  Things we take for granted, like turning a light switch on and getting light, have been looked at more thoughtfully.  Reports from the kids have been things like:
"I noticed how the light bounced off of the bottom of the shelf and spread out from there," said Ben.
"I noticed how yellow the light is at the center and then becomes white," said Gracie.
"I noticed when you shine a flashlight on a color, the light becomes like that color but lighter," said Owen.
We will wrap up these units this week.... well we are wrapping up every unit now! :)

Math:  We will continue math homework all through next week, so keep looking for homework every night except on the weekends.

Writing:  We are finishing our Animal Research projects and will use the remainder of the year working on our memory books and reading/editing our year's worth of Weekend News and Blue Binder writing.

I am soaking up every last minute with your children.  Thanks for sharing them with me!
