Lighting the Holidays

Can you believe we are in the month of December already?!!  This time brings us to our "Lighting the Holidays" unit.  We will be studying different holidays that people celebrate in December and how light is used as part of the celebration.  Tune in later this week for an update on the research project we will begin on Wednesday in the LMC.
Next Tuesday is our field trip to the Lincolnshire Marriott Theater to see "The Nutcracker".  We started reading the story today and will be studying how the story is structured so we can compare it to the play.  We will be making puppets of the characters and using them in two "scenes" to recreate our version of the story.  This should be fun!
In writing we will be focusing on Narrative writing until Winter Vacation.  The focus will be on family traditions.  Look for an informational letter coming home tomorrow about this.  Enjoy some pictures of Buddy Editing and Writing Sharing Day (every Friday).  The kids are doing great with this!
