The day of anticipation finally arrived! All the kids enjoyed getting checked in at the ticket counter, providing their passports for stamping, finding their assigned seat on Japan Airlines Flight 138, and stowing all belongings under their seat in case minor turbulence was experienced. We smiled and laughed a lot! The inflight movie "Big Bird Goes to Japan" provided us with some wonderful background information about the country we will be studying the next three weeks. Upon arrival, we got settled into our hotels (each table is now assigned a Japanese name) and began writing in our adventure journal. Each day of learning, we will journal and include snapshots from our area of study. Copying text from the board, editing, correct grammar, punctuation and neatness will be our focus for writing during the next month. We will also touch on Haiku poetry and begin Persuasive Writing toward the end or our Japan unit.... look for some persuasion to let us stay in Japan! Our scheduled return flight to USA will be on Friday, March 20. Enjoy a glimpse of our flight!...
