The Peer Feedback Poster Mrs. Watanuki taught us. |
Today Mrs. Watanuki, our Advanced Learning Facilitator, came into our 1-3 class to teach us the benefits of Peer Feedback. The kids were very engaged with this! Each child was given 2 pipe cleaners and instructed to create something. They were paired up and encouraged to say, (example) "I'm trying to make a pair of glasses, can you help me?" Mrs. Watanuki and I were hearing some wonderful, friendly, conversation. I hope your child shares with you the project they created. Mrs. Watanuki will be doing an engineering project with our class again in May. We LOVE having her visit our room!
Reading & Writing - This week we began our Poetry unit. We learned that some poetry books are a collection of poems by one author with or without a related theme, some poetry books are a collection of poems from different authors about a theme, and some poetry books are one long poem stretched out over the pages of the book. Next week we will read many poems and begin writing poems. We will be starting an "iPod playlist" of the poems we will write. I'm so excited!
Math - This week we began geometry. We will be studying about polygons, two and three dimensional shapes, and symmetry. This unit is shorter than most. Our Unit 7 test is planned for Thursday, April 14.
Social Studies/Science - This week we began learning all about MAPS. We focused on the world map and globe this week. Next week we begin reading maps and compass directions. Our next science unit, LIGHT AND SOUND, will begin the end of April.
I apologize I don't have any pictures to share with you from this week. I accidentally deleted them when I was importing them! I'll try my best to NOT do that next week! :l Enjoy the weekend!
