Sponge

Sponge Activity:  LEGO Challenge

This week we learned all about Sponge.  Sponge activities are a variety of things to choose from when work gets finished.  They are great motivators but also really fun learning opportunities.  The activities change every couple of weeks, so the kids know they better take advantage of them when they are out or they might miss the opportunity!  This week some of the activities included LEGO Challenge, White Board Teacher, Dr. Seuss activities and Math Explorations of Geoboards and Pattern Blocks.  The activities are chosen so all types of learners have options that appeal to them.  LEGO Challenge was a big hit... the kids had to choose one of three challenges:

1.  Make something using exactly 50 pieces.
2.  Make something using only 3 colors of Legos.
3.  Make something using only squares and rectangles.

White Board Teacher was also a big hit this week, as it was our first week of spelling and was a great opportunity to play school and practice those words!  Another idea to practice spelling words at home:  Have your child write them on your patio doors using window markers!  It cleans off easily for the next week.  Check back later this week for our interviews of Molly and Brooke... our first Star Students!
White Board Teacher Sponge:  Laney, Saira, Grace & Emily
Nicole, Annabelle & Brooke also doing White Board Teacher Sponge.
Math Explorations Sponge:  Jack & Jackson
Dr. Seuss activity Sponge:  Ally did a FANTASTIC job creating a Dr. Seuss summary book.
I was so impressed with her efforts that I awarded her an Outstanding Owl HOOT award!
We hope her name gets drawn for lunch with the principal!
